Social Sustainability

ADGAS plays a major role in ensuring the social sustainability of its employees and surrounding communities. ADGAS’s employees drive the execution of people theme in its business plan. We maximize the prospects of our employees by providing opportunities for continual learning and development and creating a safe and healthy working environment.

As mentioned in the retention section, retaining talents is one of the vital roles HR is entrusted with. Providing the best HR services to our employees is one of the retention tools and we are aiming to reach 82% satisfaction level by 2017 as gauged through the corporate survey. In the next 5 years, ADGAS will adopt the following practices in order to achieve employees’ social sustainability:

  • Retention of talented employees through providing better learning and development opportunities and improving working environment on Das Island in coordination with ADNOC and ADMA-OPCO. Das Island Social and Welfare committee has been maintaining work-life balance. A program of improvement focused on living conditions on DAS (DAWA) was formed under the joint ADMA / ADGAS ER committee. Four key improvements projects were commissioned under the program including the Catering Services project, Transport and AD Parking project, TV Licensing Contract and the Accommodation project. The first three projects have now been successfully completed and handed over to the process teams. The remaining Accommodation project is still on hold, awaiting a review of future planning arrangements for the Island.
  • Recruiting the right people for current and future needs through improving the current processes to shorten the time of hiring and improve quality of CVs received by agencies.
  • Providing employees with adequate information on personnel policies and practices.
  • Resolving employees’ complaints and grievances through the introduction of an enhanced grievance system that ensures fairness and improvements opportunities utilization.
  • Being sensitive to the needs and welfare of employees.
  • Advising supervisors on learning programs needed for their employees.
